Since, we are without football with all the leagues in the world suspended, I decided to delve down on players likely to leave Liverpool.
There’s also some uncertainty about few players who may or may not be with Liverpool come next season, whenever things get back to normal.
Even though Jurgen Klopp & his team has very little issues in its squad, doesn’t mean slight problems don’t exist, these problems came to light in recent weeks when Liverpool not only got knocked out of the FA Cup but also from the Champions League, mostly because of the lack of quality in squad depth, the quality which is precisely needed for flying high clubs like Liverpool to fight on all fronts & collect as much trophies possible in a single season. So, let’s take a look.

News on Wijnaldum & Lallana..

Gini Wijnaldum’s future was uncertain for a while, after he talked about being open for a move & there were reports about contract talks being stalled but that has changed, his contract extension talks are ongoing as per Liverpool Echo.

Lallana, may just not be leaving & could be handed out a temporary contract extension due to the COVID-19. This is probably for every players in a situation like that of Lallana, until things actually turn to its normal routine.

Latest on Keita & Origi..

Yes, regardless of our personal likings to the both of them, a cult hero in Origi & the wait to watch Keita shine seems to get far & faraway.
Origi, may have come goods last season time & time again, but the actual problem still persists, he fades away.
This season, he has really not been impactful at all, be that from the bench or when started to prove himself, most of the times he goes invisible in games. And the team Klopp has built with Liverpool going to places, he’s likely to be sold because Liverpool only need quality & players who actually improve & have improved.

And if you look at it, Origi leaving won’t need a replacement since we already have a new man, Minamino.
Liverpool has to fight on all fronts to maintain their level of dominance but to be left stranded with just premier league title when every domestic cup was to grab is sad, and also primarily because of consistency from the ones on the bench.

Keita, on the other hand, I’ve said this before & I’ll say it again because Liverpool has been doing so well in the league & overall the pressure & criticism has shifted from him, the supporters aren’t on his back, considering everything and with the jersey no.8 given to him.
We all know what no.8 actually means to Liverpool family, wore by our own Legendary Captain Fantastic Stevie Gerrard, and Keita has not even come close to doing it justice, in fact he barely starts because he is too injury prone. It’s been 2 years already & the wait is still there. He gets injured without even playing a game, just like Sturridge, the only difference is, Sturridge was always impactful even after coming back from continuous injuries and Keita isn’t.
I do feel for him, but we can’t sit in wait, forever.
He was brought in to give some driving force & creativity in Liverpool’s midfield and we barely ever see him in it.
Reports have emerged that his time has run out & Klopp will look to look at other ways.

The ones who will be offloaded..

Nathaniel Clyne, the forgotten one, will leave. He’s been out of the picture for ages & his back injury seems to have not gotten better or maybe it has but the fact is, his position is gone in every way.

Xherdan Shaqiri will be sold, an approach was made by Roma in January for his services on loan but Klopp wanted him to stay because he was needed but that turned out awry since he has been suffering with continuous muscle/hamstring problems.
Liverpool placed a price tag on him for €30m, for the summer.

Dejan Lovren, in my opinion, I don’t understand how he is still at Liverpool, all this time.
It’s probably something every Liverpool supporter thinks & cannot find the answer to. The guy barely has ever improved & still makes mistakes that you see in Sunday leagues, but the only thing he has improved is his big talks, which by the way, always comes back to haunt us.
Arsenal & Chelsea are reportedly interested in him & I think this time round, he should be sold.

Finally, the one who has to go at all cost is Adrian. At first many of us thought, he can just do his job properly, even though the mistakes were there but he did alright but damn how he fluffed it all.
The big talks about being the man to push Alisson were just talks.
Not only did he ruined the FA Cup tie but single handed knocked  Liverpool out in the Champions League at Anfield against Atletico Madrid.
David Maddock of The Mirror, believes Klopp will look for another no.2 for Alisson.
Shaka Hislop & Steve Nicol of ESPN FC, simply slammed him for not being good enough for even as no.2 at LFC & doesn’t have the mentality to play at such level.

Even though with the league being suspended & I believe Liverpool will be the premier league champions & rightly so, the recent results and how it all unfolded gave us some serious situations to think about, to get better for next season, there’s always room to do better & get better.
To maintain our levels, we still need to bolster further on.
I’ll publish another piece tomorrow on who are the ideal prospects we need to sign in the summer & why do we actually need them.
